3/29/05 - "Hang The DJ, Hang The DJ Hang, The DJ" Thanks to everyone out in College radio land who has been supporting Tiger Mountain. . .for those of you who haven't please call you local DJ and request your favorite track. We also would like to thank all the people who came out to see us in New Haven, Philly, and Boston this past week. You make it all worthwhile. Till next time. . .

3/11/05 - O.K. as you can see - we have a bunch of cool out of town shows coming up in New Haven, Boston and Philly...plus our record release party which is May 7 and which should be a blast - more info on that as we put this thing together. As for other exciting news: tiger mountain started getting added to radio stations all across the nation. We are putting together a list of who is playing what where - will post this soon so that you can have your local college station play all your favorite tiger mountain tunes.

02/12/05 - Thanks to everyone who came out in the blizzard to see us play at Club Metronome on Thursday. It took us almost 10 hours to get there - never seen so much snow - and you all made it worth the trip. Thanks are also in order to the great crowd last night at the Abbey in Boston. We just confirmed our record release party - it is going to be April 2 at Crash Mansion. Also on the bill will be Darling, Mighty Fine and the Soft Explosions (plus maybe some surpise crcus acts and tarot card readers). You are all invited.

02/01/05 - so we promise that from now on we will try our hardest to update this "news" section more frequently than once a year. A lot is going on with Tiger Mountain these days. . .The most obvious thing going on with us is that we finally got off our asses and updated the site. All this beautiful work was done by a guy Ryan of the infamous relapsed.net. He totally saved us with this technological nightmare. We also want to thank everyone who came down to the Mercury Lounge show on January 12 - hope you all had a good time because I know we did. Those of you at the show may have noticed the guy on stage right playing keyboards, tambourine, and singing backup - his name is Mike Vecchio and he rules. Our thanks also go out to the good people of New Haven, CT who, once again, welcomed Tiger Mountain back to the city that was touted as the "Paris of the 1980's". We had a lot of fun playing the new and improved Cafe 9 with our friends Some Action. In other exciting news, on March 8 our new record will be officially released. You will be able to buy it online from Not Lame, Amazon, InSound and probably all the other usual online retailers. The bricks and mortar stuff will be handled exclusively by our friends at Morphius down in Baltimore. Also, the tracks will be available through Itunes which is pretty exciting. For this record Tiger Mountain dug deep into their pockets and hired the Planetary Group to do all press and radio promotion - get in touch with them should you need any glossy 8x10's of Aaron.

Lastly, we would like to thank all of the 900+ people who, in just one month, have signed up as our friends on myspace. . .a la prochaine.

04/01/04 -

this news update has been a long time coming...since the last update Tiger Mountain has completed the new record - there will be thirteen tracks, and i think you will be a bit surprised by some of them. We are currently working on the artwork. In January we played Sin-e in NYC and Rudy's in New Haven. Also, we were surprised to learn that radio stations in Italy and Germany were playing Read it and Weep and Song #3 off of the last album - Analog heads Gone French. The first pressing of 2,000 copies of Analog Heads is almost completly sold out - so if you don't have a copy you best get moving...In February we played shows in Portland, Maine, and Hartford CT. As you all know, we made our debut appearance at Bowery Ballroom on saturday March 6. The show was with Scratcher, Aberdeen City, and Acquiesce and it was SOLD OUT. The next show is on April 22, at Mercury Lounge and we will be playing yet some more songs you have never heard. Other exciting Tiger Mountain news: we are currenlty talking with some very intersting people who are into doing remixes of some Tiger Mountain classics. Word is this might necessitate a trip to London....fingers crossed

11/11/03:

This Thursday Tiger Mountain is finishing all the overdubs on its new record. The band has been recording at boy-genius Jesse Cannon's studio - Cannon Found Soundation. the record is truly unlike anything you have heard from us before. We are confident that: 1) those who hate us will hate us even more; 2) those of you who like us will not be able to stop listening to it; and 3) those of you who are a bit unsure where your allegiances lie will be won over wholeheartedly...the record sounds something like Goodbye yellow Brick Road meets "Give 'Em Enough Rope." and the first Cars record. New Songs on the record will include: "Now that You're on T.V.," "Shouldn't Be Long Now," "Century's Gone," "Certain Slice," "The Occasion," and "Overtime." Old Standards "Just Like You" and 'Superintendent #9" have been re-recorded. There are a couple of acoustic songs, and a pretty piano piece cum Slavic Funeral March by Mike tentatively entitled "Good Lie Down." Check back on the site in a few days for a few samples of the unmixed recording. Also, last Sunday the band recorded six songs to be included on a new television show called Fearless Music which will start airing in NYC in January

9/15/2003:

o.k. so here is what Tiger Mountain has been doing recently...in August we recorded the basic tracks for 9 new songs at Threshold music. We are currently finishing up vocals and some overdubs with boy-genius Jesse Cannon and hope to have everything done by mid October. The recording features crowd pleasers "Now that Your on T.V." and "Shouldn't be Long" and a reworking of some older material like "Just Like You" and "Superintendent #9." Tiger Mountain thanks Amy Coxson for the Tiger Mountain matchbooks - if anyone would like some just drop us an email and we'll mail you some .

6/20/03:

this new addition to the web site is the place to come for all you Tiger Mountain news needs. But before we try and update you to the present, we felt it first necessary to reveal the past...at least for the past couple of months....In January we released our first full length album: Analog Heads Gone French - we had a record release party at the new club Tribeca and we asked our friends, The Little Killers, Nitro Musk, comedians Ahna Tessler and Laura Engels, and a hula-hoop, burlesque performer Miss. Saturn to join us -- fun was had by all (check out the pictures on this site). During February we had a residency at Arlene Grocery...every wednesday in that unbelievably cold month you guys came out and supported us - we thank you. On one of those nights Tiger Mountain won a contest sponsored by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and BMI. Besides getting a chunk of free recording time we also got a chance to go to the grammy rehearsals where Mike and Aaron were lectured by some guy named Chris from a bunch of British guys called Coldplay (check out the photo). The highlight of the day was either seeing the rehearsals for the Joe Strummer tribute, or seeing Aretha Franklin freak out because someone stole her complimentary gift bag.

In March we played with the Damnwells at Luxx in Brooklyn, and the Deathray Davies at the Middle east up in Boston...Alex from local punk rock heroes, Left-Over Crack was driving us in his van which only made it as far as the middle of Connecticut before seizing up on us - leaving us stranded...Luckily Aaron was driving solo and picked up the rest of the band and our guitars...we left everything else in the van and made it to the show just in time. Thanks to A.M. Strereo for being cool and letting us use all their gear. In case you are wondering, a week later Alex finally did get the van back - He got it fixed only to have the engine blow up the following week....

April and May saw us play shows with Pilot to Gunner, J. Mascis and Cobra Verde, Dave Davies of The Kinks and Need New Body. This was also the month where the EU seemed to get a hold of Tiger Mountain. We were album of the week on Antenna2 radio which is major radio station in Italy, we also got some airplay in Portugal, Spain and Germany. Currently we are writing material for our new record that we are recording in August. We will continue to keep you posted.
